COLUMBIA, S.C. — A section of Lincoln Street near the Olympia area is back open after a train ran off the track Thursday evening.
Columbia Police say the front engine of a freight train went off the track while traveling along the 300 block of Lincoln Street. That's near the intersection with Catawba Street, near the University of South Carolina's Greek Village.
Police say the road was temporarily closed as engineers remedied the situation. A spokesperson from Norfolk Southern said the engines have been re-railed and the train moved. Columbia Police said traffic was back to normal around 8:45 Friday morning.
No injuries were reported.
