Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Jury selection took place Monday morning in the trial of a man charged in connection with a fatal jet ski accident.
Justin Reed Walters is charged with reckless homicide in an accident that happened on Lake Marion back in 2014. Millicent Anne McDonald, 19, died in the crash.
Investigators with the Department of Natural Resources say that Walters passed a field sobriety test on the date of the accident.
In convicted, Walters could face up to 10 years in prison.
The accident was the inspiration for "Milli's Law," an effort to get legislation passed that would make breathalyzer tests mandatory for anyone involved in a boating accident.
