COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after an SUV crashed into a home in Richland County.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. on Denny Road, which is off Monticello Road.

An SUV driving down the road somehow lost control and hit the home.  The owner, who is renting the home to a couple, told News19 he wasn't home at the time but said he got a call from a relative and rushed back to find a mess.

No one else was inside either and no one else was injured. The driver's condition was not known but the person was talking to investigators at the scene.

Homeowner Truman Murphy said there is lot of work to be done to before the house is repaired.

"They ran into the porch and knocked the walls in the house and part of the roof in the house which has come down too," he said. "It's extensive damage, extensive damage. its gonna to be an extensive repair bill."

Murphy says he will board up the walls of the house and the couple will stay until all repairs are done..
