ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Two people are dead after a collision near the city of Orangeburg Monday afternoon.
The crash happened at 12:13 p.m. at U.S. Highway 301 at LaQuinta Drive, which is about two miles north of Orangeburg.
Lance Corporal Brittany Glover with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the collision involved two vehicles: a Nissan and a Honda. According to Glover, the Nissan was traveling south in the northbound lane of Highway 301 while the Honda was traveling north. The two vehicles then collided.
The driver of the Nissan died at the scene while two passengers inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Honda also died while a person who was a passenger in that vehicle was transported to the hospital.
The coroners office has not released the names of those who died. The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
