Columbia, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster says there will be second job fair for the newly created EmploySC, a group that's looking to help laid off V.C. Summer Nuclear Station employees find new work.
McMaster said Friday that the new job fair will be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on Lincoln Street in Columbia from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16. It will be hosted by the City of Columbia.
A day earlier, the announced that one would be held on Monday, August 14 at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies at 914 Mt. Vernon Church Road in Chapin.
On Monday, Santee Cooper and SCE&G announced they were abandoning the construction of two new nuclear reactors at V.C. Summer, which is located in Jenkinsville in Fairfield County. The decision immediately put 5,600 employees out of work.
