Teenager killed in shooting in southeast Columbia, coroner confirms

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting at an apartment complex off Rosewood Drive on July Fourth.

Columbia Police said they were called to the 300 block of South Beltline Boulevard at Woodland Terrace Apartments around 3 p.m. Officers arrived to find a wounded male victim. He was taken to the hospital and died a short time later.  

Investigators spent several hours collecting evidence from two separate homes in the community.

Authorities haven't released any details regarding how the shooting occurred or a potential suspect in the case. The Richland County Coroner's Office, which is assisting in the case, has not yet released the victim's name.
