SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — It was called "Weekend Saturation," and it was an operation meant to get drugs and firearms off the streets of Sumter County.

The operation took place May 27 and 31 and June 1, and included officers from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Sumter Police Department and South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Over the course of those three days, officers set up various checkpoints and served several arrest warrants. In total, 30 tickets were issued and 20 arrests were made.

Those alleged violators will now face several charges, including violation of open alcohol container laws, driving under suspension, speeding, possession of marijuana, driving without a license and violation of child restraints. They will also pay $21,151 worth of fines.

The operation also saw the seizure of three firearms and 200 grams of marijuana. However marijuana wasn't the only drugs seized, cocaine, heroin and meth were also reportedly found.

One stop on June 1 ended with the seizure of cocaine and $10,000, which made of the majority of the total $12,073 seized during the operation.

The sheriff's office says they are planning to execute more operations in the future to "promote safe driving and reduce criminal activity on Sumter County roads."
