Columbia, SC (WLTX) — A fifth grade teacher in Richland School District Two has been arrested on a charge of cruelty to children, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Robert Dill, 48, who teaches who teaches at Windsor Elementary School of Columbia, turned himself in yesterday, according to deputies.
In an incident report obtained from the Richland County Sheriff's Department, a parent alleges that Dill kicked her son in the back. Dill was reportedly doing a pull up in the doorway of the boy's classroom when he kicked the boy. The parent says Dill neither apologized nor acknowledged the incident.
After the boy's father contacted the school, Dill called to apologize and admitted to unintentionally kicking the boy, according to the mother's statement.
The boy reportedly has a small bruise on his upper back and has complained of slight back pain, according to the incident report.
Dill has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, according to a spokesperson for Richland School District Two. "The District is fully cooperating with law enforcement with their investigation of the matter," say Roof.
Dill has been employed with Richland Two since 2000.
