LEXINGTON, S.C. — A woman is facing charges as a result of the investigation into a home invasion that ended with the death of an 8-year-old boy.
Lynda Lyn Monette, 23, is charged with intent to distribute marijuana.
According to an arrest warrant, Monette lived at the home where 8-year-old Mason Hanahan was shot Tuesday morning. The warrant says deputies got a warrant to search the home, and when they went inside, they found marijuana. It's not clear in the warrant how much of the drug was there, only stating that it was more then 28 grams and less then 10 pounds.
The warrant says there was also a large amount of cash, along with packaging materials that were "consistent with marijuana sales."
Monette is not facing charges related to the wounded of Hanahan.
Officers were called to the home on Cedar Vale Drive in Lexington County after reports of a home invasion involving a masked gunman. Both the suspect and another man who lived in the home reportedly exchanged gun fire during the incident.
The man who lived in the home suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound, but Hanahan was shot and later died at the hospital.
The crime is not believed to be a random act.
Hanahan was a second-grader at Oak Grove Elementary School.
