Columbia-area woman wins second lottery jackpot

After winning $1 million two years ago, a South Carolina woman strikes luck again with a $300,000 lottery prize.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Columbia-area woman is celebrating a lottery win for the second time, beating incredible odds in the process.

The woman had already taken home roughly $1 million about two years ago and said the latest lottery win happened similarly. For her recent win, the woman told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that she purchased a $10 ticket from the King Fuel location on Two Notch Road in Columbia. She sat at her desk and scratched off the top $300,000 prize before doing a little celebration dance and slipping the ticket back into her purse.

This time, however, lottery officials said she didn't go to cache in the ticket right away. Instead of taking her lunch break to do it, she waited until the following day and showed the winning ticket to the clerk who sold it.

And that may be the only person who will ever know about her win publicly as she doesn't plan to tell anyone else about either of the wins -- or the third one she hopes she'll have eventually.

In taking home the $300,000 Gold Rush game jackpot, the winner beat one in 700,000 odds (not counting the odds of winning two major lottery jackpots in just a couple of years. For anyone else who wants to try their hand, the game still has two top prizes remaining.

Krishnaprapti LLC, the store's owner, received a $3,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
