COLUMBIA, S.C. — One South Carolina resident has won $150,000 courtesy of the Powerball lottery.
The winning numbers were drawn Wednesday night and one person's ticket matched 4-out-of-5 of the regular numbers and the Powerball number. Normally that means a player would win $50,000 but this player chose to by the PowerPlay option.
Any lottery player can upgrade their Powerball ticket using a PowerPlay option for an additional $1. That means that their prize would be multiplied by the PowerPlay number of 2, 3, 4 or 5.
In this case, the PowerPlay number was 3, which means that the lucky winner's prize money increases from $50,000 to $150,000.
Here are the winning numbers from Wednesday night's drawing:
7 - 9 - 26 - 44 - 68 with the Powerball number 3.
The next Powerball drawing is Saturday, July 13 and the jackpot was at an estimated at $194 million as of Thursday morning.
