COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - USC Coach Lou Holtz announced on Monday he is stepping down. Holtz says he doesn't know what he is going to do next or where he will do it.Holtz told reporters in Columbia there was not oneparticular moment in which he made the decision to leave. He did not give a specific reason, other than to say he got worn down.Holtz says he is disappointed that he did not win a championship with the Gamecocks. He also says he's not happy with the way the team played in November. Holtz was three and 15 in games in November.Holtz is the only South Carolina coach to win two bowl games. The Gamecocks won the 2001 and 2002 Outback Bowl games over Ohio State.He says he's pleased the team has qualified for three bowl games in the past five years. He also said he didn't know if South Carolina would accept this year's bowl invitation after the fight at the Clemson game Saturday. But at the end of the news conference, he said he hoped the new coach would coach a bowl game. Holtzpreviously had said he would coach the bowl game.Holtz also says he expects to be replaced by a well-known, proven winner that he plays golf with, which appears to be a reference to former Florida coach Steve Spurrier.
