A 36-year-old Greer man was arrested on Valentine's Day after he tried to engage in sexual activity with a 14-year-old.
According to Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis, the suspect, Billy Lynch told his wife he was leaving the house to buy her a Valentine's Day gift.
But instead of going to the store for flowers or chocolate, Lynch was planning on meeting with a 14-year-old girl to engage in sex. What he wasn't planning on was Greenville deputies being there to arrest him.
Lynch was charged with first degree sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor and criminal solicitation of a minor.
Lynch was one of the many suspects arrested for sex crimes and other charges during the sex crime sting operation in the upstate called "Operation Millstone." During the sting, investigators posed as minors in online chat rooms to lure predators to a home in Greer.
"Operation Millstone" took place in early and mid-February over the course of six days. More than 40 arrests were made during the sting.
