PORTLAND, Maine — One of the first articles in the July issue of Down East is a short profile of Tommy Dube.
Dube started lobstering with his dad when he was 8 and is already earning a "steady paycheck.”
Remarkable? Well, yes and no. Turns out Maine has dozens of licensed lobstermen under the age of 11.
Other features in this issue include a guide to exploring the Bold Coast and beyond, a region that the federal government recently recognized as the Downeast Maine National Heritage Area.
Unsure of just what that designation means, Down East editor Will Grunewald and writer Tressa Versteeg took a road trip to get some answers and to have some fun.
Watch our conversation with Will to hear about some of what they found.
