Man killed his passenger when she threw fast food at him, police say

Damonte Williams, 18, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

FERGUSON, Mo. — An argument over fast food led to the fatal shooting of a woman inside a car Thursday morning in Ferguson.

Prosecutors charged Damonte Williams, 18, with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

In court documents, Ferguson police said Williams, two women, including the victim, and two men were riding around in his car. During the trip, police said Williams passed around his Glock 22 handgun.

Police said the group later drove through a fast food restaurant and placed an order. Detectives said Williams and the victim began arguing after the victim threw food at Williams.

Police said Williams told the victim, "If you throw something again, I will shoot you." In response, the victim, identified in court documents as "M.H.," told Williams she would shoot him.

Officers said Williams fired one shot at the victim. The bullet went through her bicep into her chest.

Police said the group drove to a hospital where the suspect turned himself in to security as the shooter.

Williams was being held on a $500,000 bond. His next court appearance has not been scheduled yet.
