A house in Rodanthe, North Carolina collapses into the ocean

Dangerous debris may be present on the beach and in the water near the collapse site, according to the National Park Service.

A house in Rodanthe, NC collapsed on Friday.

RODANTHE, N.C. — An unoccupied house along the North Carolina coast collapsed on Friday into the ocean. The house is located at 23001 G A Kohler Court in Rodanthe, North Carolina. It's the third home in the Outer Banks to collapse this year. 

Cape Hatteras National Seashore said they are monitoring another nearby house that sustained damages because of the house collapse. In an online statement on Facebook, they said dangerous debris might be present on the beach and in the water close to the collapse site.

Cleanup work is expected to begin later today, according to the National Park Service. There may be temporary beach closures while debris from the collapse is being cleaned.
