Seven dead, dozens injured in I-20 bus crash in Mississippi

A bus crash on I-20 in Mississippi resulted in seven deaths and multiple injuries. Authorities are investigating the incident.

WARREN COUNTY, Miss — At least seven people are dead and dozens injured following an I-20 bus crash in Mississippi.

A Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson said the crash happened around 12:40 a.m. near Bovina in Warren County. Preliminary investigations suggest a 2018 Volvo commercial passenger bus was heading west on the interstate when it overturned. Six passengers died at the scene, and another died at Merit Health Hospital in Vicksburg, Mississippi. 

Another 37 passengers with unspecified injuries were taken to hospitals in other areas of Vicksburg and Jackson. The bus's co-driver wasn't transported.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said more information would be released in time. Authorities were still working to find and identify the next of kin. Authorities haven't yet said where the bus came from or went.
