'I want to finish the trip' | Parents of teen shot and killed while driving to Galveston plan to honor her this week

Louise Wilson was killed one year ago Tuesday. She was on I-45 on her way to Galveston to watch the sun rise.

HOUSTON — Tuesday marks one year since the fatal shooting of Louise Wilson, a teen killed while on her way to Galveston just to watch the sunrise.

The 17-year-old from Whitney, Texas was shot in the heart around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 of last year along the Pierce Elevated portion of I-45.  Police believe the shooting to be a case of road rage. Her family plans to honor Louise this week.

"I want to finish that trip to Galveston. That's where she was headed and I want to go there, just to take some time to reflect, think about her and remember all the good things about her and all of our good times at the beach," said Krista Wilson, Louise's mother. "I believe that there was more than one person in the shooter's vehicle and I strongly believe and I stand by it that someone out there knows."

Crime-Stoppers of Houston launched digital billboards across the area earlier this year featuring Louise's picture and the sketch of the suspect. A $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest remains on the table. If you know anything about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS and remember, you can remain anonymous.
