DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Just days after a Minnesota man was killed while on a Christian mission trip in Africa, the lead pastor of his parish, Lakes Area Vineyard Church, revealed his wife was arrested in connection with his death.
The news came Friday in an updated letter from Detroit Lakes pastor Troy Easton.
"As you all know, our community has been deeply saddened by the death of our dear brother and friend Beau Shroyer, who was killed in a violent, criminal attack in Angola, Africa on Friday, October 25," Easton wrote. "Today, our grief and sadness has deepened immeasurably as we’ve learned that his wife ... has been arrested in connection with his death."
KARE has redacted the suspect's name as she has not yet been formally charged.
Easton said Shroyer and his wife shared five children, all of whom are reportedly being "well cared for" in the wake of their father's death and mother's arrest.
"This is unimaginable, and yet it is very real," Easton's letter continued.
KARE 11 reached out to the Detroit Lakes Police Department for more information about the case but has not yet received a response.
