Nikki Haley talks education, Boeing and her future in politics during elementary school visit

Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley stooped by Richard Carroll Elementary School to visit the Original Six Foundation's Practice Makes Perfect Homework Center.

Nikki Haley, former UN Ambassador and Governor of South Carolina, checked in on the Original Six Foundation's Practice Makes Perfect Homework Center at Richard Carroll Elementary School in Bamberg on Wednesday.

Her goal was to hear from students about what they are getting out of the after-school program.

"They love the fact that they now have homework help, because sometimes either their parents can't help them do it, or they don't see their parents to get it done," says Haley.

She says she's happy being a private citizen, living in New York with her family and working on a book coming out in the fall.

Soon, she could be elected to the Boeing board of directors. When it comes to the recent issues facing the Boeing 737 Max Jet, she says she believes in the company.

"Every company has their ups and downs and I think that Boeing is and needs to take this seriously. I think they need to be as transparent as they possibly can," says Haley. "They're a good quality company. I've always made great planes. We're proud of our SC workforce. So I'm going to do everything i can to help bring clarity to the situation and try to do all I can to help them."

When it comes to her political future, she says she's not thinking about that. Instead, she's focused on The Original Six Foundation and Stand For America Now, a political foundation.
