Vice President Kamala Harris returns to Orangeburg on Friday

Harris to headline Get-Out-the-Vote event at SC State University

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris will return to South Carolina on Friday, February 2.

This time Harris will be in Orangeburg for the get out the vote event at SC State University.

The vice president will be encouraging folks to get vote early as Friday marks the last day of early voting for the Democratic Presidential Primary. Harris' visit comes one week after President Joe Biden spent the weekend in Columbia where he spoke at the Democratic Party's First In the Nation dinner on Saturday and then attended church services at Saint John Baptist and Brookland Baptist churches on Sunday. Biden and his wife Jill have a long-standing relationship with Brookland Baptist's Pastor Charles Jackson and Jackson's wife Robin.

Early voting centers are your county's Board of Voter Registration & Elections offices and are currently open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The South Carolina Democratic Presidential Primary will be held Saturday, February 3. If you are a registered voter and do not vote early, you can vote on Saturday, 7 am-7 pm, at your regular precinct. 

Don't forget to bring your photo ID to the polling place.

The South Carolina Republican Presidential Primary will be held Saturday, February 24. Early voting in the GOP contest begins February 12.

In South Carolina, voters do not have to register with a political party in order to cast a vote. Registered voters can cast a ballot in either the Democratic or Republican primary, but not both.
