COLUMBIA, S.C. — Voters have made their choices for municipal elections across South Carolina, including almost three dozen contested races in the Midlands. WLTX has full South Carolina election results for all the contested races in the region.
Voters spent Tuesday casting their ballots for contests including mayor and either town and city council races. Only one area had a referendum, and that was in Blythewood, which is deciding if they'll change the way voters pick town council members.
Among the key races were the contests for the Columbia City Council at-large seat and Columbia City Council District Three. Voters also picked mayors in Blythewood, Cayce, Irmo, Newberry, West Columbia and several other towns.
Voter turnout, as is typical in many municipal elections, was lighter than what would be seen in a presidential or midterm election, but many still showed up at the polls.
