MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Former Carolina Panthers superstar Christian McCaffrey's Mooresville mansion is on the market for $12.5 million, realtor Victoria Speer confirmed.
McCaffrey, who was traded to San Francisco last season, has now listed both of his North Carolina homes since leaving the Panthers. His Uptown condo was put up for sale last year for $3 million.
McCaffrey's Lake Norman estate was inspired by the French countryside, spanning 8.6 acres in southern Iredell County. The 11,831-square-foot home has 26 total rooms, including six bedrooms and 7 1/2 bathrooms.
McCaffrey reportedly paid $7.5 million in cash for the home in 2020. Speer said McCaffrey's property could set the record for the Charlotte metro, which is currently $7.67 million.
"It was such a difficult decision to have to sell this house, but because I'm in the Bay now, I am never there" McCaffrey told the Wall Street Journal via email. "It pains me letting them go, but that's life I guess."
Built in 2018, Grand Lac Chateau is complete with Lake Norman access, a floating boat dock, two garages and a gated driveway. The manor also has two gyms, according to Speer.
"Architecturally designed as a timeless masterpiece, the Grand Lac Chateau has redefined the standards of southern living with its unparalleled style and grace," the listing reads. "The Grand Lac Chateau has curated a lifestyle of luxury that stands unparalleled, seamlessly blending opulence and tranquility."
McCaffrey and the 49ers will host the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. If San Francisco wins, McCaffrey will play for his first Super Bowl championship with the potential to join his father, Ed, as an NFL champion.
