BLACKSBURG, S.C. — Officials in both say a man suspected of crossing state lines to kill his wife and her brother in South Carolina went back to North Carolina before taking his own life Wednesday morning.
The Kings Mountain Police Department in North Carolina said they were contacted by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina around 11 a.m. to help find the suspect at his home. Kings Mountain police went to the home located on Landry Drive in the southwest part of town, where 49-year-old Sajad Damon Roberts was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Cherokee County Coroner's Office told WCNC Charlotte the victims were 45-year-old Shenita Merchelle Roberts and 49-year-old Darriach Derowne Mack. The office said the shooting unfolded during a domestic incident between Shenita Roberts and Sajad Roberts at the home in Blacksburg.
The investigation is ongoing.
Kings Mountain is located about 32 miles west of Charlotte. Blacksburg, South Carolina is about 14 miles southwest of Kings Mountain, near the state line.
