ORANGEBURG, S.C. — It was an historic day for the South Carolina State university athletic department.
The university introduced the R.I.S.E.( renovate innovate scholarship excellence) program.
It’s a major gifts initiative with the goal to enhance SC State student athletes’ academic and athletic experience during their time at the university.
SC State's athletics department has raised more than $1.6 million dollars which will go towards the program.
The goal is to raise $2 million for the initiative by the end of 2019.
