Associated Press WriterGREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) -- A federal bankruptcy judge will decide who gets to buy South Carolina's venerable Park Seed Co. and what will happen to its more than 300 employees in Greenwood. A hearing will be held in Columbia on Monday to decide on the winning bidder for the company whose annual catalog has been the harbinger of spring for more than 140 years. A bankruptcy trustee who has been running the company since April has recommended the judge accept the bid of Blackstreet Capital that would provide $8.5 million to pay off the company's debts. It is the lowest of the three bids, but trustee Stan Neely said in his report to the court that it is preferable because Blackstreet has guaranteed to keep the business running in Greenwood for at least three years. Founded in 1868 in Pennsylvania and moved to Greenwood in 1924, Park Seed was sold to Donald Hachenberger of Florida in 2005. />
