Clarendon County, SC (WLTX) - Clarendon County's sheriff is remembering one of his deputy's who died over the weekend after a long illness.
Deputy Scott Ellison died Sunday morning.
"He was a man of few words, but when he did speak he had something to say," said Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett. "He was one that just took care of business. He was not one to be calling and say I need a couple of extra deputies here I have a situation. It just never happened. He took care of it. He was on top of it regardless of what it was,"
Last week, the Sheriff's Office posted to Facebook asking for the public's thoughts and prayers. The post read, "Please keep Deputy Scott Ellison, SRO at Manning Elementary School, and his family in your prayers. Scott has become extremely ill due to his diabetes condition and is currently in the hospital. Please pray for Scott's family as they go through this tough time and a period of uncertainty."
Sunday the Sheriff's Office took to Facebook again to notify the public that Scott had passed away.
"It is with great sorrow to say that our beloved brother, Scott Ellison, passed this morning. Your sweet spirit and smiling face will be missed greatly in the CCSO, Clarendon County and Manning Elementary School. You have touched many lives while you were here and you will never be forgotten. Please pray for the family as they go through this tough time. We miss you our brother in blue, Deputy Scott Ellison."
