Shoppers talk about their firework plans for the 4th of July

Whether it's a roman candle, a sparkler, a skyrocket or a wheel, customers are reminded to be safe this 4th of July as they light fireworks throughout the Midlands.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — As Independence Day approaches, people are going last minute fireworks shopping. At Casey's Fireworks in Columbia, the aisles were full of customers, looking for something to light up their backyard.

"We were looking for more of a big factor, so we got this," says Fantasia Mollenthiel, holding the "Excalibur" firework set. "It cost $80 and it has a lot of shots in it."

"We sell fireworks at really every budget," says Forest Casey of Casey's Fireworks. "So if you want a small backyard gathering, with you and the family, we've got stuff for that. If you want like the big show stuff, like what a professional has, we've got stuff for that too."

As far as what's popular, Casey says folks are looking for a show in a box.

"We've got a bunch of them these day's that have 20 or 30 shots with one fuse," says Casey. "You light one fuse and it basically makes a show. People want that."

That's exactly what Marwuan Marzagao was looking for with his family.

"We try to put something together that will be fun for the neighborhood," says Marzagao. "So, we try to piece it so that one, it's safe. We've improved on our safety over the years, but something that's easy and safe and has a long span."
