Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Sir Big Spur now has a new ride.
The University of South Carolina's College of Nursing students raised money for the initial design of the project. Several students from the USC College of Engineering spent nearly one year constructing the cart.
"When it is all said and done this will probably be worth about $10,000," said Ron Albertelli.
Ron and his wife Mary Snelling are the longtime owners of Sir Big Spur. They say this new ride will help get the rooster around safely and quickly.
"He should be able to keep up with the players running on and off the field," said Ron.
The new cart has many upgraded features including LED lights, a motorized goal post, and a removable top complete with Gamecock carpet.
