Bishopville, SC (WLTX) - Topiary artist Pearl Fryar is recovering from surgery, according to a post on his website. The post does not detail what kind of surgery Fryar underwent.
Fryar's topiary garden at his Bishopville home is world-renowned and is made up of plants that he has trimmed into a variety of shapes. According to his website, Fryar began working on his garden in the early 1980s and it now features more than 300 plants. His garden also features several sculptures that he refers to as "junk art."
A post on his website reads: "Mr. Fryar won't be as active as he has been in the past. He is recovering from surgery, so please be patient as he regains his health. The Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden is open to visitors Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm."
