ASHEVILLE, N.C. — President Joe Biden is slated to come to Asheville, North Carolina in the wake of the devastating Hurricane Helene, according to the Associated Press.
Biden will arrive in Western North Carolina on Wednesday.
At least 40 people in North Carolina died from the storm, with a total of 125 people dead overall.
Governor Roy Cooper predicted the death toll would continue to rise as areas impacted by collapsed roads, failing infrastructure and flooding are reached by emergency personnel.
The North Carolina National Guard is set to send over 100,000 pounds of supplies from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the impacted areas.
So far, the NCNG has delivered 306 pallets of water and 230 pallets of food since the storm began.
