SUMTER, S.C. — A house fire in Sumter has claimed the life of an 82-year-old woman.
According into Sumter Fire Department Division chief Joey Duggan the fire call came in around 1:31 PM. When firefighters arrived light smoke was showing from the mobile home.
Inside firefighters discovered the the body of Ms. Betty Garris. There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
Chief Duggan said the fire was contained to the living room. A dog and a cat were also found dead. Twenty fire-fighters responded to the scene.
The Sumter Fire Department, Sumter County Sheriff Office and the Sumter County Coroner office is investigating
