Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Driving up Devine Street, you will notice a new sign and a fresh paint job on the former Whitney Hotel.
Estates Management Company bought the Whitney and began renovations in July. Grace Salter, Events Coordinator for Estates Management, says you will notice a very modern atmosphere when you come through the door.
"We started the renovations by opening up the kitchen, adding granite counter tops, new appliances and updating the bathrooms," said Salter.
Over the last 4 months, crews have been renovating 75 apartments. The one bedrooms are all leased out and Salter says the two bedrooms are going fast.
"We have a wide range of ages- we have older residents who wanted to downsize and young professionals who will enjoy all Devine Street has to offer," said Salter.
Matt Mundy with Estates Management says before they began renovations they donated all of the furniture and appliances they acquired when the company purchased the Whitney.
"It just kind of melts your heart, this stuff is going to get new life," said Mundy.
