SPRINGDALE, S.C. — Just a few days after its current police chief announced he was leaving, the Town of Springdale has named its new chief of police.
In a post on Facebook, the Town of Springdale announced that Andrew "Bear" Richbourg has been promoted to Chief of Police of the Springdale Police Department. Richbourg replaces current Police Chief Kevin Cornett, who accepted the position of chief of police in Isle of Palms.
"It says a lot about our Town when we are able to promote such a high ranking employee within a department," said Springdale Mayor Michael Bishop. "I fully support our Town Administrator [Ashley Watkins] and her decision and look forward to seeing what Chief Richbourg has planned for the Springdale Police Department.”

Since joining the Springdale Police Department, he has completed the FBI Child Abduction Training, FBI Digital Imaging & Video Recovery Team Training, and also the FBI Carolina Command College. Most recently, Richbourg obtained his Master of Criminal Justice Degree from Columbia College.
