Columbia (WLTX) -- The trial for a man accused of killing his roommate in 2001 is set to begin Monday.Mark Richardson, 32, is accused of killing 25-year-old Shelton Sanders in 2001, though Sanders' body was never found.Jury selection begins Monday for Richardson's trial.Sumter County investigators say the suspect and victim were roommates, and that they originally handled the investigation as a missing persons case.Deputies say Richardson shot Sanders on the night he disappeared at a residence on Olympia Avenue in Columbia.Prosecutors also say witnesses told them that Richardson had expressed a desire to murder one of his friends.Shelton Sanders was the son of a prominent former magistrate in Sumter County, William Sanders.He was enrolled at the University of South Carolina.
