(WLTX) A fatal three-vehicle crash caused traffic to be at a standstill for more than six hours on Saturday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened on Interstate 20 near mile marker 62 just before 3:30 a.m. They say two people are dead and one is in serious condition.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the two killed as 27-year-old Franchescha Hope Rogers-Martinez from Lexington and 32-year-old Jarrad Denard Blade from Decatur, Georgia. Autopsies will be performed on Sunday.
Officials say the driver of a 2014 Kia was traveling west in the eastbound lane and hit a 2015 Nissan head on. The driver of the 2015 Nissan then crashed into a 2008 Nissan. The driver of the 2015 Nissan was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in this vehicle was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Kia was also pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the 2008 Nissan was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
This collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner's office.
