USC Softball Team Rallies To Defeat #2 Tennessee 8-7

The USC softball team used three home runs to erase a four-run deficit before a wild pitch on an intentional walk scored the game-winning run in a 8-7 victory over the Volunteers.

Columbia, SC --- Tiarra Duffy, Mackensie Boesel and Jana Johns hit home runs to help rally 15th-ranked USC to an 8-7 win over #2 Tennessee Friday night in game one of their SEC series at Beckham Field.

With USC trailing 7-3 in the fifth, Duffy and Boesel hit solo home runs to cut the deficit to 7-5. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Johns ht a two-run home run to tie the game at 7-7.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Kenzi McGuire led off the inning with a double. After advancing to third, she scored the game-winner when the Volunteers threw a wild pitch when trying to intentionally walk Krystan White.

USC freshman Kelsey Oh (7-2) came on in relief and earned the victory for her first-career SEC victory. She allowed five hits in three innings of work with three strikeouts.
