MLB Draft recap day one

A USC signee is the first in-state player to come off the MLB draft board.

Summerville product P.J. Morlando grew up in the Tampa era and now he is going home.

The USC signee was taken by the Miami Marlins with the 16th overall selection of baseball's draft which began Sunday night.

Morlando was the state's Gatorade Player of the Year for the Green Wave.

In the second round, the Minnesota Twins grabbed Tennessee's Billy Amick with the 60th overall selection,

A product of the Batesburg-Leesville area, Amick spent the first two seasons of his college career at Clemson where he earned All-America status as a sophomore. He transferred to Tennessee for his junior season and last month, he was on the field in Omaha as the Volunteers won the national championship.
