Baseball and fireworks at Segra Park on Fourth of July Eve

The Columbia Fireflies hosted the Augusta GreenJackets in the final home game before the Fourth of July holiday.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia Fireflies wrapped up a three-game homestand Wednesday night on the eve of the Fourth of July.

A packed house at Segra Park took in the game, and the evening ended with a massive fireworks show.

During the game, Irmo's 13-year-old singing sensation, Sawyer McCarthy, delivered a sterling rendition of "God Bless America."

Augusta won the game 4-0. The Fireflies and GreenJackets will begin a three-game series starting on the 4th of July and continuing through Saturday. Thursday's game on July 4 begins at 6:35 p.m. There will be fireworks after the game at SRP Park, located in North Augusta, just a short distance from the Georgia state line.

The Fireflies will return home on July 19 to start a nine-game homestand.
