LEXINGTON, S.C. — Opening Night for the defending Coastal Plain League champion Lexington County Blowfish was just as management had envisioned it.
Ideal weather greeted the fans who made their way to the Lexington County Baseball Stadium for the first game of the 2024 campaign.
There was plenty of offense as Chapin graduate and Southern Wesleyan infielder Jarrett Whitley recorded three RBI as the Blowfish built a 6-1 lead after four innings and held on for an 8-7 win over the Macon Bacon.
Friday's game marked the start of the 10th season of Blowfish baseball in Lexington County and the 19th overall after spending the first nine years holding court at historic Capital City Stadium.
