LEXINGTON, S.C. — There was baseball on the Fourth of July at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium but it was not a Coastal Plain League sanctioned game.
The annual "Fish Fry" is an intra-squad game as members of the Lexington County Blowfish are split into two teams - the "Glowfish" and the "Brewfish".
With special jerseys worn by each team, the seven-inning scrimmage saw the Glowfish jump out to a 15-0 lead before the Brewfish added three runs in the final frame for the final margin of victory.
The game had its share of lighter moments from 13-year-old Brayden Caton from Lakeside Middle School playing in the outfield for the Brewfish to the home plate umpire calling strikes on pitchers that "were just a bit outside".
The entertainment for the near sellout crowd was capped off by a fireworks show.
The Blowfish will return to the field Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. game against Holly Springs.
