COLUMBIA, S.C. — Erick Pena has showcased his power ever since he made his debut in a Columbia Fireflies uniform in 2022 and that power has put his name in the franchise record books.
Pena hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to give the Fireflies a 2-1 lead over the Carolina Mudcats who would eventually rally for a 4-2 win Wednesday night at Segra Park.
But that home run was Pena's 26th career home run with the Columbia Fireflies, a franchise record. Pena hit his second home run in as many games to push past Dash Winningham for the all-time lead in home runs by a Fireflies player.
On the season it was Pena's seventh home run for 2024.
