COLUMBIA, S.C. — It's that time of year again, spring is in the air and the opening of baseball season is not too far away. Once again, the Columbia Fireflies will hold auditions for soloists and groups to sing the national anthem before home games at Segra Park this season.
If you think you've got what it takes to sing The Star-Spangled Banner in front of a home crowd, you'll need to call or email John Oliver with the Fireflies to set up an audition time. The Fireflies will play 66 home games in 2024, so there are plenty of opportunities for local talent to knock it out of the park.
Here are the ground rules:
- No walk-in auditions
- Call or email John Oliver to schedule an audition. Oliver can be reached at (803) 888-3007 or joliver@columbiafireflies.com
- There are a limited number of performance dates during the 2024 season so not everyone who auditions is guaranteed a scheduled game date
- If you have auditioned before at Segra Park, you will have to audition again
- Auditioners under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
- Auditions are open for soloists and groups. Bands or groups with more than 15 members will go through a different audition process with Oliver.
- a Fireflies representative will contact those selected to perform after the conclusion of the audition process in March.
- if you are selected to perform, you will receive four complimentary tickets to the game you are scheduled to perform
Opening night for the Fireflies at Segra Park is April 9 when the home team takes on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at 7:05 p.m. Check out the full promotional schedule at columbiafireflies.com
