CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson now knows where it will start in the polls before the 2024 football season as it looks to regain its dominant foothold in both the ACC and the national championship race.
The Associated Press preseason college football poll was released Monday and Clemson finds itself at number 14. That's one notch below LSU and one position above Tennessee.
Clemson is coming off a 9-4 season that saw them not reach at least 10 wins in a season for the first time since 2010. But of their loses, most were close contest where the Tigers doomed themselves with unforced errors such as turnovers or a costly missed kick like they did against Florida State, which went 13-1 and took home the ACC title.
The Tigers return starter Cade Klubnik at quarterback and there's still plenty of talent on defense, despite departures to the NFL, graduation, and transfers.
The Tigers get a tough test right away, as they have to play top-ranked Georgia in the season opener on August 31 in Atlanta. The Bulldogs received 46 of the 62 first place votes in the poll.
Florida State was the highest ranked ACC team at number 10.
