Clemson's Prowl-N-Growl Tour makes tracks to Columbia

Head football coach Dabo Swinney was joined by head coaches from four other sports as the spring speaking schedule ramps up.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The second stop of the Prowl-N-Growl tour was at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center where fans from the Midlands gathered to hear the latest updates from Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney and the other head coaches who made the trip.

Swinney is just a few days removed from the end of spring practice as the Orange and White game was held on Saturday. Since then, Swinney has been meeting with players and one of the players who had a one-on-one session with the head coach was backup quarterback Hunter Helms.

The former News19 Player of the Week from Gray Collegiate Academy is entering his fourth season with the program. Originally a walk-on, Helms is now the veteran in the quarterback room with starter Cade Klubnik entering his sophomore season and highly touted freshman Chris Vizzina on campus since January. There is added experience in the form of graduate transfer Paul Tyson who has been in the programs at Alabama and Arizona State. Redshirt freshman Trent Pearman rounds out the current roster of quarterbacks.

Swinney says Helms had his best spring since arriving on the Clemson campus and if the coaches decide to redshirt Vizzina, Helms could very well be listed as the backup quarterback to Klubnik.
