Benedict College releases 2023 football schedule

The Tigers will play a nine-game schedule this fall as they look to defend their SIAC championship.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — After the greatest season ever in the history of Benedict College football, the Tigers have released its 2023 schedule which is a nine-game slate featuring five games at home.

The third season of the Chennis Berry era will kick off at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium on Sept. 2. The Tigers face Shaw in the Carolinas Classic.

Benedict will be on the road for the next two weeks to take on Edward Waters and Lane, before an open week on Sept. 23. The Tigers will be back at home on Sept. 30 to face Morehouse College.

After a road trip to Miles College on Oct. 7, the Tigers will return home for back-to-back contests against Fort Valley State on Oct. 14, and Kentucky State for Homecoming on Oct. 21.

Benedict takes its final road trip on Oct. 28 to take on Savannah State, before returning home on Nov. 4 to take on rival Allen University.

Last season, the Tigers posted an undefeated regular season and then won the SIAC Championship. They earned a first round bye in the NCAA D2 playoffs before ending the season with a second-round loss to Wingate for a final record of 11-1.
