Former News19 sports anchor Alyssa Lang has been hired by the SEC Network as a host and anchor for its studio show programming.
Lang joins that company after spending the last two years at First Coast News in Jacksonville where she headlined that station's coverage of the Jacksonville Jaguars who are coming off a season where they made it to the AFC Championship.
Before moving to Jacksonville, Lang was at News19 for two years where she covered high school, college and professional sports. As a USC grad, Lang is more than familiar with SEC football and now that expertise will be utilized at ESPN and the SEC Network.
“The passion that comes with college football is a big reason why I got into sports broadcasting,” Lang said in a statement.
“Joining a team that eats, sleeps, and breathes [college football] is an absolute dream come true. I am so excited to join the SEC Network family, and look forward to an incredible first season.”
Alyssa is a USC graduate who is the second News19 sports anchor to be hired by ESPN, joining Matt Barrie.
“Alyssa is a tremendous talent with a deep affinity for college sports and the SEC,” said Baron Miller, SEC Network coordinating producer. “One of our greatest strengths at SEC Network is the phenomenal people who our viewers welcome into their homes every night, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Alyssa to our family.”
In addition to her role with SEC Network, Lang will also serve as an anchor this fall with WCNC in Charlotte.
