Gamecock assistant coach leaving for Florida

Mike Peterson, who had been at South Carolina for the past six seasons, is returning to his alma mater where he won a national championship under the HBC.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Billy Napier has reached intot he Palmetto State for one of his coaching hires.

Mike Peterson, who has been at South Carolina since 2016 when he was part of Will Muschamp's first staff, is leaving to take a job at Florida where he was a former First Team All-SEC linebacker and won a national championship under Steve Spurrier.

Peterson, who coached the outside linebackers and edge rushers for the Gamecocks, will take on a similar role with the Gators.
