Glover eyes another August surge to make the FedEx Cup Playoffs

Lucas Glover will rest up before heading to Greensboro to defend his title in the Wyndham Championship.

After missing the cut at the Open Championship, Lucas Glover had planned on teeing it up at the 3M Open in an effort to improve his position in the FedEx Cup standings.

But he was separated from his equipment so the traveling snafu ended up keeping Glover at home which may not have been the worst thing as the season has been a grind.

Glover is currently 76th in the FedEx Cup standings and since the top 70 make the playoffs, the former Clemson All-American and 2009 U.S. Open champion will have to have a strong performance in two weeks at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro.

But if he can channel his play from 2023, Glover should be fine.

A year ago, Glover was 112th in the standings when he arrived at Greensboro. Glover ended up winning for the first time in more than two years and that punched his ticket to the post-season. He followed that up with a victory in Memphis in the first event of the playoffs and that eventually led him to the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

But Glover only has eyes on Memphis and to earn a trip to the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, he will need to channel his August play from 12 months ago.
