Solar eclipse viewing at the Augusta National Golf Club

Patrons who were on the course for Monday's practice round spent part of their day watching the solar eclipse.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Normally, the patrons who arrive at the Augusta National Golf Club keep their focus on the golfers unless they take a break to hit the concession stand or the gift shop.

But Monday was different and that was evident as green eclipse glasses with the Masters logo were handed out at the gates and during the afternoon when the time was right, patrons donned their glasses and looked into the sky to watch the process of the moon moving across the sun.

The last time an eclipse appeared at Augusta National Golf Club was 1940. Shortly after 3:00 p.m., the area was around 78 percent totality.

There were mroe than a few first-time visitors who were able to experience an atypical Masters Monday due to the eclipse moving across North America.
